It's Mardi Gras!
A few years ago, this day would have made me so excited. Parties, parties, parties.
Today though? Well, it's been one of those days. And I didn't even remember it was Mardi Gras until I saw it on Facebook.
Within the first twenty minutes of being up today, we were dealing with a very unhappy little butt (red, red, red out of nowhere!...maybe a food allergy? Who knows...poor little baby butt), someone did both #1 and #2 on the changing pad (I'm not saying who...but it wasn't me), I had to chase the dog away from the trash where he was ravaging used nursing pads (gross dog, gross) and dragging them all over the house, and then when we came downstairs for breakfast we had a momentous spit up incident all over the floor.
Holding a squirmy, hungry baby while cleaning spit up off the floor and using a foot to keep the (have I mentioned GROSS) dog away who wants to lick up the spit up? Now that is talent my friends, talent that only motherhood can bring you.
And that was only the first twenty minutes.
Add to that a refusal to nap for longer than 30 minutes, and a washer that keeps getting stuck on the rinse cycle, and well...that's my day so far.
On the upside, my baby girl is feeling much better now that her teeth have cut through, and I have my normal smiley, (although refusing to sleep today) happy baby back. And thankfully those smiles seem to make everything else not matter so much.
Oh, life. Sometimes you just gotta sigh, shake your head and smile.
Laissez les bons temps rouler.

...and for those of you who don't speak French, that means "Let the good times roll." And roll they shall.
My dog is gross in exactly the same way yours is... ugh!! Hope your day improved!:)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pleasant morning indeed... Yikes! I love Evelyn's reaction to daddy coming home in her six month photos. Hooray for new teeth too (finally)!
