President and CEO, SAHM Inc.

Welp, it's official. I put in my notice this morning.

As of August 22nd I will be starting my new, full-time job - Mommy.

It has been quite the journey to get to this point and actually pull the trigger on making this decision, but ultimately I know it's the right one. I thought that it would be hard and scary to actually go through with it this morning, but it wasn't. I am totally at peace in my heart.

As I have mentioned before, if I loved my job, things might be different. Maybe. Maybe not. But, at the end of the day, I didn't love my job. I loved aspects of my job, but not as much as I love being at home with my baby girl. I know it's not the right decision for every family, but we really feel that it is for us, and I feel so lucky and incredibly privileged to be in a position to make this decision.

{Please remind me of that in a few months when I am craving grown up conversation and am completely over the amount of time I spend cleaning up after baby and dog. I kid. Sort of.}

I am still an ambitious person who plans on going back to work eventually. When the time and the job seem right.

Until then, just call me Courtney, Stay at Home Mom.

Evelyn is 18 days old

...and today she got her feet printed on the wall of the birthing center!

  1. Welcome to the world of domestic engineering! It's a tough job but so fulfilling. And I can't imagine spending my days with anyone other than my sweet little girl. Yes, I miss and crave adult conversation, time to myself and feeling clean and put together but I wouldn't have it any. other. way. This time will fly by and you'll be so happy with your decision.

  2. Good for you, Courtney....I'm sure you're going to be an amazing Mom! Enjoy your time together....I don't know where it went, but mine is gone...and when it's gone, there's a huge hole, so have no regrets....and I'm quite sure that Evelyn is going to be awesome company for you and Bings! You probably won't even miss adults....much less the conversation...I mean really!

  3. Congrats!!! As a SAHM my self, it's the best job there is! Enjoy every second!!

  4. Good for you! Little Evie is a lucky little lady!

  5. My hormones and my daughters did the same thing! I just welcomed back my co-worker who stayed home 4 months before returning to work to a job she loved!
    I joined American Association of University Women (AAUW). It helped me immensely transitioning back from my brain turning to mush! In fact that's what the Membership Coordinator said! Now not as many women are home full-time but co-ops are great as you can bring your babies with you! Good luck and congratulations on making your decision for your family!

  6. ok so i am a mother of soon to be four children oldest isnine youngest is one i am disabled i broke my fimer two yrs ago, i stay at home full time with no breaks in between at all for me, a crave the adult convo and mingling, any advice?

    1. Do you know any other moms with younger kiddos your age? Maybe through some of your older kid's classes? I have found it really helpful to be with some of my friends who are also SAHMs once a week. We do coffee on Monday mornings and let the little kids play. We just rotate houses and though sometimes it takes a LOT of coordination to get out of the house, it is always worth it afterwards! Good luck. <3
